Stay Cool Momma

If you live near or around New England we just had a crazy heat wave. We are in the middle of July so it’s already hot as balls now adding a heat wave where the “feels like” temperature was over 100 is a little cray cray. If you’re like me and you’re 8 months pregnant a heat wave is not our friend. Not even close. I’ve been pretty content during my pregnancies. My hormones haven’t been out of whack, i haven’t cried over silly things or flipped out. But this heat was making me irritable. My feet swelled up like balloons and my toes look like sausages the other day. I had to stick them out the window while driving. Mama needed to stay cool so she didn’t become a monster. This is what I did this weekend to stay cool calm and collected

1. Loose COMFORTABLE clothing

So important and key to keeping cool in the heat. Looking like a fab preggo lady had to pause for the weekend because there was no way I was leaving the house in anything but gym shorts and a huge baggy t shirt (thanks pops for your t shirts). Loose clothing is important to keeping cool anything tight or restricting will make you uncomfortable.

2. Stay hydrated

You should be doing this anyway pregnant or not, especially during a heat wave. You need LOTS of water. I suggest purchasing a Yeti because they keep water cold forever and cold water on a hot day is a must. Staying hydrated is so important in this heat, you don't want to be that person on the news who passed out for lack of hydration.

3. Stay inside

Honestly keep your butt inside on the couch with your feet up. I sat directly in front of the fan and stayed inside with the nice AC and I do not care if I missed some good beach days. Because honey it is HOT OUT and momma can’t stand the heat.

** I did go to the beach today, but trips back to the beach house were a must so I could cool down and tinkle (and get something to eat of course).

There you have it. Three things I did to survive the heat wave. Steal your significant other; or in my case your fathers t shirt, stock up on cold water (maybe even ice cream or yummy watermelon) and sit your butt on the couch with your feet up and watch movies all day.

I’m currently in the AC, on the couch with my feet up and a tub of watermelon on my bump watching Bridesmaids, and writing this post of course. Much more relaxing and cool than dying outside exercising like my crazy mother is about to go do.
